James is finally here! On August 24th, James David Gilbert was born at 2:28pm by scheduled c-section. He was 7lbs 9oz and 19.5 inches long. The birth story was pretty uneventful-scheduled repeat c-section (since Chloe was an emergency c-section). I never went into labor, so at 39 weeks and 2 days I went to the hospital and then a little while later James was here! There were no complications, James was very healthy and pink. I was able to hold him after he was born in the recovery room which I never was able to do with Chloe. After 2 days of being in the hospital, I was feeling ready to go home. It was so nice to have my mom here helping us around the house and with Chloe for the week after James was born. He has been a very easy baby, sleeps a lot, eats very well and often! Chloe loves her baby brother very much. She was excited to be able to have James and Nana come to her first tap recital. James went to the doctor for his first check up and lost a little weight (he was down to 7lbs), but it is normal for babies to lose a little weight. After going back to the doctor the following week, he had gained his weight back again plus a little bit.

We have been busy getting James' room ready and the rest of the house cleaned out before our guests arrived. Chloe's Nana came to visit to help us watch Chloe while are in the hospital during James' delivery and help us out after he is born. Pictures will be posted soon of James!

Good bye circle in Mrs. Carol's Mommy and Me class

It was a great end to the month of July. We had some maternity pictures taken by my good friend Norma. Chloe wasn't too happy to have her picture taken because she just woke up from a nap, but we managed to get some good pictures. Chloe started preschool again for the fall session and will continue to go 2 days a week from 9-1pm. She knows a lot of the kids in her class because they have been in other classes with her as a baby. We took a little weekend trip to Los Angeles to see the Natural History Museum. We had a great time checking out all of the animals, insects, and the Children's Discovery Center. We also got to check out the butterfly conservatory and she was so excited that a butterfly landed on her. The next day we took Chloe to ride the rides on the Santa Monica Pier. I am extremely lucky to have some great friends and they threw us a little baby shower at the park this month. Chloe enjoyed helping me open all of the baby clothes. We have been preparing Chloe for her brother's arrival by reading her big sister stories and talking about how she can help us when he comes, but she is getting tired of waiting for him to arrive. We started a new Mommy and Me class for 3 & 4 year olds which meets Tues/Thurs. She really enjoys going to this class each week because she really enjoys sitting for circle time. Chloe's favorite game this month is her Toy Story memory game that she got from her birthday. Matt and Chloe play board games at night before bed and she is pretty good at memory! She also loves playing Candy Land and the Ladybug Game. She also enjoys riding scooters with Daddy (he also has a scooter) and they ride together to the park.

July was a busy month because of all of the parties and birthdays! I was exhausted by the end of the month because we were running all over everyday. I am glad I remember to take a lot of pictures to remember what we did! I tried to do as much as possible with Chloe because of her baby brother coming in August. We gave Chloe her own big girl bed in her bedroom because we needed her toddler bed to convert back to a crib for when James comes. We bought her new bedding and she loves having more space to sleep at night (plus she sleeps with about 10 dolls and 10 stuffed animals, so now they have enough space too). It is nice to read stories to her for naptime and bedtime laying next to her in bed. Chloe turned 3 this month! I can't believe how fast the time went. She is such a big girl now (she weighs 34 lbs and is 39.5 inches tall). We had a train party for Chloe at the park (which she has been planning since March). We had a lot of train crafts planned for the kids to do, trains to play with, the kids went on a train ride at the park, we ate awesome train cake and cupcakes, and the kids got train favors. It was a great day at the park! Chloe was especially excited to turn 3 because that means she got to move from the ballet class to the big girl tap and ballet class. She loves wearing her new tap shoes, and even though she was the youngest kid in the class (the ages were from 3-6 years old), she is a good listener and tries to do all of the steps.
